Baseball Game Preview: Pillow Academy Mustangs vs. Heritage Academy Patriots

Pillow Academy hasn't had much luck against Heritage Academy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Pillow Academy Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Heritage Academy Patriots at 4:00 p.m. The contest will give Pillow Academy their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.

Pillow Academy came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 8-2 to Picayune.

Pillow Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Valente, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave Valente a new career-high in hits.

Meanwhile, Heritage Academy can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They blew past Lawrence County 13-4.

Oliver Woodard and Collin Cunningham dominated on the mound. Woodard tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit, while Cunningham tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Woodard has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Charlie Fowler, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Adyn Westmoreland was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.

Heritage Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lawrence County only managed six hits.

Heritage Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Pillow Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Pillow Academy couldn't quite get it done against Heritage Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 4-0. Can Pillow Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
