Basketball Game Preview: Highland Park Scots vs. Piper Pirates

The Highland Park Scots and the Piper Pirates will face off at 4:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Highland Park sitting on 24 straight victories dating back to last season and Piper on five.

Highland Park is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They walked away with a 65-56 win over Andover Central. Given the Scots' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Jaguars are ranked 75th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Piper didn't have too much trouble with Shawnee Heights on Thursday as they won 70-52.

Highland Park's victory bumped their record up to 23-0. As for Piper, their win bumped their record up to 20-3.

Everything came up roses for Highland Park against Piper in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, as the team secured an 89-52 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Highland Park since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
