Basketball Recap: Overlake Takes a Loss

Overlake suffered their biggest defeat since January 26, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 85-60 to the Bear Creek Grizzlies. The Owls have struggled against the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Bear Creek was led to victory by Caleb Branch and Max Beiber. Branch went 7-for-13 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points and three steals, while Beiber went 9-for-14 to rack up 25 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Beiber's evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Andrew Liu, who went 6-for-8 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Overlake's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Bear Creek, they pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.

Overlake wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 61-50 victory against Bush on the 20th. As for Bear Creek, they will venture away from home to square off against King's at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. King's knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Bear Creek likes a good challenge.
