Recap: Western Warriors vs. Cheyenne Desert Shields

The Western Warriors pushed their score all the way to 62 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Cheyenne 67-62. Western lost against Cheyenne in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 74-38 score last time.

Despite the defeat, Western saw an underclassman step up: AC McDowell dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Josh Harris, who scored 11 points along with 8 rebounds.

Cheyenne was led to victory by Omarion Kincey and Cordae Feazell. Kincey dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Feazell scored 19 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Tyree Bruce was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.

Western's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Cheyenne, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Southeast Career Tech at 6:30 p.m. on November 28th. As for Cheyenne, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Mojave at 6:30 p.m.
