Preview: Emery/Weiner vs. Veritas Academy

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Emery/Weiner had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the Mustangs, posting a 90-41 win at home. Emery/Weiner might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won eight matchups by 26 points or more this season.
Zac Laviage continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 310 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per carry, and also catching a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Newman, who rushed for 83 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries.
Meanwhile, Veritas Academy has more to be thankful for after their contest against Hill Country Christian School of Austin on Friday. Everything went Veritas Academy's way against Hill Country Christian School of Austin as Veritas Academy made off with a 77-56 victory. Veritas Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four matches by 21 points or more this season.
Emery/Weiner's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for Veritas Academy, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
Emery/Weiner was taken down by Veritas Academy 70-36 in their previous meeting back in December of 2020. Can Emery/Weiner avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
