Shaler Area had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Baldwin Highlanders with a sharp 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Colby Mcguire was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Brendan Fitzgerald also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Shaler Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Shaler Area's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Baldwin, they moved to 5-5 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shaler Area will head out to face off against Pine-Richland at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Titans 3.2, the Rams 2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Baldwin, they will head out on the road to square off against Connellsville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Highlanders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
