Baseball Game Preview: Chesapeake Panthers vs. Fairland Dragons

Chesapeake hasn't had much luck against Fairland recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will take on the Dragons at 5:30 p.m. Chesapeake has given up an average of 11 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

The home team had come away the winner the last six times Chesapeake and Rock Hill had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Panthers lost 12-1 to the Redmen on Wednesday. Panthers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Redmen since on Wednesday.

Chesapeake saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Muncy, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

Meanwhile, Fairland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Portsmouth.

Garrett Cornwell made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season.

Chesapeake's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12-1. As for Fairland, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-10.

Chesapeake might still be hurting after the 13-1 defeat they got from Fairland in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
