Basketball Recap: Kirtland Takes a Loss

Kirtland was the 51-43 winner over Jefferson Area when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Kirtland Hornets fell just short of the Jefferson Area Falcons by a score of 52-49 on Saturday.

Jefferson Area can attribute much of their success to Tatum Bordeaux, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 17 points and four steals. That's the most points Bordeaux has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Maylee Pollard-Hanna, who posted 15 points and eight rebounds.

Kirtland now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Jefferson Area, their victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-5.

Kirtland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-34 win against Lakeside on the 6th. As for Jefferson Area, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 62-42 defeat against John F. Kennedy Catholic on the 6th.
