Baseball Game Preview: Orange Panthers vs. Segerstrom Jaguars

Orange is 2-8 against Segerstrom since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Panthers will welcome the Jaguars at 11:00 a.m. Segerstrom took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Orange, who comes in off a win.

Orange took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with an 11-7 win over Anaheim. The high-scoring effort was just what the Panthers needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Mitchell Osorio looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Ethan Giraldo was a standout: he scored two runs while going 2-for-3. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Gogh Nakagawa, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Segerstrom didn't have quite enough to beat Tustin on Friday and fell 5-4. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jonathan Macias made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Zack Bretza was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Segerstrom's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Orange, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 8-10-1.
