Basketball Recap: Nucla Mustangs vs. Telluride Miners

The Nucla Mustangs won against the Telluride Miners last Friday with 49 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Nucla put the hurt on the Miners with a sharp 49-25 win. The win was nothing new for Nucla as they're now sitting on three straight.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nucla to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keiran Bray, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Bray is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Viviana Zunich was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Telluride lost, one person who can't be blamed is Emma Reggiannini. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. Reggiannini is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last eight games she's played.

Nucla now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Telluride, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nucla will take on the Dragons at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (De Beque is ranked 164th, while the Mustangs are ranked 177th). As for Telluride, they will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Caprock Academy is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
