Basketball Game Preview: Toledo Indians vs. Adna Pirates

The Toledo Indians will head out on the road to square off against the Adna Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Thursday, everything went Toledo's way against Winlock as Toledo made off with a 60-38 victory. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Cardinals are ranked 276th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Adna came tearing into Thursday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Ducks 78-40. The Pirates pushed the score to 61-31 by the end of the third, a deficit the Ducks had little chance of recovering from.

Adna's win came from a few key players Toledo will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Trevin Salme, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayson Humphrey, who went 12 of 20 on his way to 27 points and three steals.

Adna was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Toledo and bumps their season record up to 12-2. As for Adna, their victory bumped their record up to 13-2.

Toledo came up short against Adna when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 52-40. Can Toledo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
