Baseball Game Preview: Ferndale Yellow Jackets vs. Blacklick Valley Vikings

Ferndale is 1-9 against Blacklick Valley since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets will host the Vikings at 4:15 p.m.

Ferndale is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game two weeks ago. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Turkeyfoot Valley Area.

Connor Hrivnak was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Brady Ferenchik was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Blacklick Valley had already won six in a row and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They came out on top against Shanksville Stonycreek by a score of 5-1.

Aiden Boring was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.

Blacklick Valley pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Ferndale, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
