The SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Washington Pam Pack at 6:00 p.m. Washington took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on SouthWest Edgecombe, who comes in off a win.
SouthWest Edgecombe can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent match on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 51-21 victory over Ayden - Grifton on the road. The win was just what SouthWest Edgecombe needed coming off of a 71-23 loss in their prior matchup.
SouthWest Edgecombe found their leader in underclassman Kd Collins, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Collins has scored at least a third of SouthWest Edgecombe's points. The team also got some help courtesy of A'Chonacey (Chonie) Mabry, who scored eight points along with ten steals.
Meanwhile, Washington's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 77-25 loss at the hands of North Pitt. Washington has struggled against North Pitt recently, as their contest on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
SouthWest Edgecombe's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Washington, their loss dropped their record down to 2-16.
Everything came up roses for SouthWest Edgecombe against Washington in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 65-33 victory. Will SouthWest Edgecombe repeat their success, or does Washington have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
