Baseball Game Preview: Albany Cougars vs. Piedmont Highlanders

The Albany Cougars will challenge the Piedmont Highlanders at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Albany took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Sonoma Valley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Albany came out on top in a nail-biter against Sonoma Valley on Saturday, sneaking past 7-5.

Max Eddy looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mikey Richards, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston McGowen, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Piedmont posted their closest victory since May 1, 2024 on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Acalanes 7-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Highlanders.

Will Parker was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Markos Lagios was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Piedmont's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Albany, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
