Baseball Recap: Mandarin's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

Mandarin easily dispatched Riverside last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Mandarin Mustangs fell just short of the Sandalwood Saints by a score of 5-3 on Monday. The Mustangs' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

John Brooks made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. Makarios Brown also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Mandarin's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Sandalwood, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-4.

Coming up, Mandarin will head out to face off against Stanton at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Stanton has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.67 runs per game on average), something Mandarin will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Sandalwood, they will square off against Wolfson at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
