League recap: Manatee tops Sarasota to extend winning streak

Manatee extended the longest winning streak in 7A District 10 this week by beating Sarasota, 51-9. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.

Manatee led the league in scoring this week after putting up 51 points on the Sailors. Cord Sandberg threw for 220 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 11 yards in the win.

Joe Kinnan's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Trevon Walters chipped in 56 yards. Brodrick Yancy helped Manatee's passing attack out by catching one ball for 47 yards.

Marquel Hines was the best wideout in the league this week as the Hurricanes beat Sarasota. Hines tallied four receptions for 110 yards.

Manatee's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Hurricanes feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Sandberg has thrown for 1737 yards and 23 touchdowns this season, while Hines has 27 catches for 583 yards. Walters leads the league in rushing with 819 yards.
