Basketball Recap: Talawanda Comes Up Short

Talawanda was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 57-18 loss at the hands of the Fairmont Firebirds. The match marked the Brave's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

It was another big night for Kaylah Thornton, who went 8 of 16 en route to 20 points and four steals for Fairmont. Thornton has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nico Cornett, who went 7 for 15 on her way to 16 points.

Talawanda's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Fairmont, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Talawanda will welcome Preble Shawnee at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Fairmont, they will take on Springfield at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Fairmont's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
