Football Recap: Hanover Central Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Jacob Ferko and Dominic Giglio

Hanover Central might've scored the first points on Friday, but it was Hobart who claimed the real prize. The contest between the Wildcats and the Brickies didn't end well, with the Wildcats falling 42-23. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Brickies apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Hanover Central's loss came despite strong showings from Dominic Giglio and Jacob Ferko. Giglio rushed for 82 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries, while Ferko picked up 74 receiving yards and one TD. Giglio's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards.

Aleks Tatum was his usual excellent self, rushing for 105 yards and three scores, while also throwing for 157 yards and one TD for Hobart. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Tatum a new career-high. Miles White was another key player, rushing for 73 yards and one touchdown on only five carries.

Hanover Central now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Hobart, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

When Hanover Central and Hobart next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Wildcats will try to stop Andrean's six-game winning streak when they meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Hobart will face off against Hammond Morton and their three-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Brickies 14, the Governors 11.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
