Baseball Recap: Highland Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Deseret Peak, Highland was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Cottonwood Colts by a score of 8-3. This was payback for the Rams, who suffered a 13-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Porter Rockwood was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Highland is 3-1 when Rockwood allows two or fewer hits, but 1-7 otherwise. Rockwood was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Matt Fotheringham was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run. He has become a key player for Highland: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 1-7 otherwise.

Highland's record is now 4-8. As for Cottonwood, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Highland will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Colts: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
