Baseball Game Preview: Marvell Academy Eagles vs. Calhoun Academy Cougars

The Marvell Academy Eagles will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge the Calhoun Academy Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Marvell Academy is leaving town to face Calhoun Academy after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Eagles lost 12-0 to the Cougars last Tuesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.

For Calhoun Academy's part, Layton Logan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Logan has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played.

In other batting news, Kaden Denton was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Carsen Stegall, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Marvell Academy might still be hurting after the 12-0 defeat they got from Calhoun Academy in their previous matchup last Tuesday. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
