Basketball Recap: Boulder Takes a Loss

Boulder lost against Legacy back in January of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Boulder Panthers fell 65-55 to the Legacy Lightning.

When it comes to explaining why Boulder lost, don't look at Cole Morrow. Despite the final result, he went 10-for-24 on his way to 22 points. That was a full 40% of Boulder's points, marking the fourth time in a row Morrow has posted more than a third of the team's points. Dominic Trudgeon was another key player, putting up four points in addition to nine boards and seven assists.

Even though they lost, Boulder smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 12 consecutive matchups.

It was another big night for Jaedon Ward, who went 10-for-16 to rack up 22 points and five rebounds for Legacy. Another player making a difference was Ari Harpring, who earned 12 points along with seven boards and five blocks.

Boulder's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Legacy, their record now sits at an identical 14-9.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Boulder will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Pueblo West at 6:30 p.m. Pueblo West is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.4 points per game this season. As for Legacy, they will face off against Vista PEAK Prep on Tuesday. Legacy also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 59.1 points per game.
