Softball Game Preview: Harbor Teacher Monarchs vs. Marquez Gladiators

The Harbor Teacher Monarchs will take on the Marquez Gladiators at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Harbor Teacher is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Harbor Teacher is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Hamilton 9-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Monarchs.

Lexi Cetina was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Samantha Galima, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Marquez made sure to put some runs up on the board against Orthopaedic on Wednesday. The Gladiators never let the Vipers get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. Considering the Gladiators have won 19 contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Marquez has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.1 runs over those games. As for Harbor Teacher, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.

Harbor Teacher suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Marquez when the teams last played back in March. Can the Monarchs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
