Basketball Recap: Nederland Comes Up Short

Nederland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Campion Academy Cougars and fell 49-8. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-4.

Drew Hertzfeld was Nederland's leading scorer, having posted four points. Robert Akerley held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

Izuchi Nwankqo was nothing short of spectacular for Campion Academy: he went 7 of 9 on his way to 17 points along with three steals and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Marroquin, who went 7 for 10 on his way to 14 points and four steals.

Nederland's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Campion Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
