Softball Recap: Moline Comes Up Short

Moline fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against East Moline United on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 8-7. The Maroons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Emersyn Rasso made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Young, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

Moline has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for East Moline United, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4.

Looking ahead, Moline will head out to face off against Normal West at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for East Moline United, they will be taking part in a tournament against Kaneland at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
