Baseball Recap: Lake Wales Takes Down Lake Region in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Lake Wales walked away with it. They won by a run and slipped past the Lake Region Thunder 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Highlanders have posted against the Thunder since April 26, 2021.

Max Seidl tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February.

At the plate, Lake Wales saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon David, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave David a new career-high in RBI (two). Levi Cutts was another, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Lake Wales' win bumped their record up to 12-14. As for Lake Region, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-11.

Looking ahead, Lake Wales will square off against Mulberry at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Highlanders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Lake Region does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
