The Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Monrovia Wildcats at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Monrovia took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Capistrano Valley Christian, who comes in off a win.
Capistrano Valley Christian came out on top against The Webb Schools two weeks ago thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run first inning. The Eagles never let the Gauls get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Heath Carlson was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Dominic French, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Capistrano Valley Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as The Webb Schools only posted an OBP of .062.
Meanwhile, Monrovia came up short against Duarte last Wednesday and fell 8-5.
Monrovia also got a good showing from Alex Myers, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Myers has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Monrovia saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Troy Grise, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Capistrano Valley Christian's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-12. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Monrovia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 20-7 record this season.
Capistrano Valley Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Monrovia in their previous matchup back in May of 2015, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
