Baseball Recap: Perry-Lecompton Takes a Loss

Perry-Lecompton extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 0-4. They came up short against the Santa Fe Trail Chargers, falling 18-8. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 on Friday.

Dayton Tucker was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Henry Hays was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

As for Santa Fe Trail, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 13.3 runs this season.

On Santa Fe Trail's side, Rigley Sleichter was a standout: he went 5-for-6 with three stolen bases, five runs, and two RBI. Those five runs gave Sleichter a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alex Strother, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four RBI and two runs.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Perry-Lecompton will take on St. Marys on Monday. As for Santa Fe Trail, they will challenge Louisburg at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
