High school football: Jaden Williams of California tops national sack leaderboard

Mission Viejo senior has 20 sacks for the No. 10 team in the nation.

According to statistics submitted to MaxPreps, Jaden Williams of Mission Viejo (Calif.) is high school football's national leader in sacks.

Williams has 20 sacks and 32 tackles for loss for a 7-0 Diablos squad ranked No. 10 in the nation. The senior has at least three sacks in five games including six in a 51-10 win on Sept. 27. Committed to San Diego State, Williams has 38.5 sacks since the beginning of his junior season.

Senior Garrison Dibble of Atkins (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and junior Michael McClenton of Ocoee (Fla.) are tied for second with 17 sacks. Dibble is committed to Navy and has at least two sacks in all six of his games this season. McClenton recorded 10 sacks in his first four games before he picked up seven in the last game.

Freshman Simote Tupou of Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon (Henderson, Nev.) is tied for sixth in the country with 15 sacks for a total of 127 yards lost. The 6-foot-1, 230-pound defensive end has hit his stride over the past three weeks, totaling eight sacks in the trio of games.
