Basketball Recap: Rocky Mountain Lutheran Takes a Loss

If Rocky Mountain Lutheran was riding high fresh off their 75-53 takedown of Ascent Classical Academy last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rocky Mountain Lutheran Eagles fell to the Weldon Valley Warriors 57-52.

Despite the loss, Rocky Mountain Lutheran still got an impressive performance from Blake Harris, who went 9 for 16 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points. Those 27 points gave Harris a new career-high. Gavin Borchardt was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to nine boards and four blocks.

August Filter continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Weldon Valley, going 7 of 14 to rack up 26 points. That makes it six consecutive games in which Filter has scored at least a third of Weldon Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zander Braun, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Rocky Mountain Lutheran's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Weldon Valley, their record is now 6-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rocky Mountain Lutheran will square off against Sheridan at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rocky Mountain Lutheran is facing Sheridan at the right time seeing as Sheridan is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Weldon Valley, they will take on Twin Peaks Classical Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
