Basketball Recap: Greencastle Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Greencastle was the 59-54 winner over Northview when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The contest between the Greencastle Tiger Cubs and the Northview Knights didn't end well, with the Greencastle Tiger Cubs falling 72-55. While losing is never fun, the Tiger Cubs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Knights are ranked 17th).

When it comes to explaining why Greencastle lost on Monday, don't look at Sam Gooch. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 10 on his way to 20 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Taygan McRoberts, who posted nine points.

Northview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brayden Goff, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Perry, who went 8 of 14 en route to 21 points and eight rebounds.

Greencastle's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-5. As for Northview, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

Greencastle will welcome North Putnam at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greencastle is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season. As for Northview, they will venture away from home to challenge South Putnam at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for South Putnam: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Northview has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
