Football Game Preview: Morgan County Bulldogs vs. Pike County Pirates

The Morgan County Bulldogs will face off against the Pike County Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Morgan County has eight straight victories, Pike County has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Morgan County got the win against Jackson by a conclusive 42-18. Fans of the Bulldogs have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Morgan County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Davis Strickland, who threw for 222 yards and four TDs while completing 96.2% of his passes. Strickland has been hot, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last five times he's played. Christian Monfort helped Strickland out on the ground, rushing for 95 yards and a pair of scores.

Meanwhile, Pike County came up short against Westside last Friday and fell 28-16. While the Pirates had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Seminoles 6-0.

Pike County's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Morgan County, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.

Everything came up roses for Morgan County against Pike County in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 41-5 win. In that contest, the Bulldogs amassed a halftime lead of 27-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
