Basketball Game Preview: Elmwood Trojans vs. Illini Bluffs Tigers

The Elmwood Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Illini Bluffs Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Elmwood is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Elmwood came up short against Peoria Christian on Tuesday, falling 67-42. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 499th, while the Chargers are ranked 233rd).

Meanwhile, Illini Bluffs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 58-52 heartbreaker at the hands of Brimfield.

Illini Bluffs' loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-7. As for Elmwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.

Elmwood might still be hurting after the 53-29 loss they got from Illini Bluffs in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Elmwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
