Basketball Game Preview: Memorial Red Devils vs. Southern Indians

The Memorial Red Devils will be taking part in a tournament against the Southern Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Memorial's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matchups.

Last Friday, Memorial was fully in charge, breezing past McKinley 97-26. The Red Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 20 points or more this season.

Memorial had a senior duo take command as Josue Rodriguez went 13-for-23 on his way to 28 points and four steals and Jared Colon went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc to rack up 24 points in addition to five assists and five steals. What's more, Rodriguez also posted a 57% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2023. Teyon Harris Jr. was another key player, going 5-for-9 en route to 10 points and three steals.

Memorial smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Southern took a blow against David Anderson on Monday, falling 92-63. The Indians have struggled against the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Memorial has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.1 points over those games. As for Southern, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.
