Baseball Game Preview: East Ridge Knights vs. Lake Minneola Hawks

The East Ridge Knights will take on the Lake Minneola Hawks at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.

On Wednesday, East Ridge came up short against Montverde Academy and fell 6-3.

East Ridge got a good showing from Cale Keene, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Keene also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because East Ridge is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, East Ridge saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaylen Benson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave Benson a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Lake Minneola came tearing into Tuesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Greenies. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hawks have posted since April 30, 2024.

Lake Minneola let Fabian Antosanti and Chase Dougherty run wild. Antosanti went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Dougherty scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

East Ridge's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Lake Minneola, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

East Ridge might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Lake Minneola in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can East Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
