Football Recap: Langtree Charter Academy Takes a Loss

Langtree Charter Academy extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 1-7. They were dealt a 56-19 defeat at the hands of the Lake Norman Charter Knights. The Lions were down 42-12 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the loss, Langtree Charter Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Thomas Hay picked up 183 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Hay's longest reception was for an incredible 78 yards.

As for Lake Norman Charter, their win bumped their record up to 4-5. The contest marked their most dominant victory of the season.

Lake Norman Charter got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dylan Wignot out in front who threw for 282 yards and four TDs on only 14 passes, and also rushed for 62 yards and one touchdown. What's more, Wignot racked up 147.3 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August. Another pass catcher making a difference was Dorian Morgan, who picked up 218 receiving yards and three scores.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Langtree Charter Academy will head out to challenge Community School of Davidson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lake Norman Charter, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Lincoln Charter at 7:30 p.m. on the 31st.
