Basketball Game Preview: Anthony Wayne Generals vs. Springfield Blue Devils

The Anthony Wayne Generals will square off against the Springfield Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Anthony Wayne has eight straight wins, Springfield has 20 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Thursday, Anthony Wayne was fully in charge, breezing past Whitmer 70-15. The Generals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 matches by 27 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Anthony Wayne to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elise Bender, who went 10 of 16 en route to 24 points and seven rebounds. Bender's evening made it 14 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Pike, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine assists.

Anthony Wayne was working as a unit and finished the game with 28 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Springfield lost 62-40 to Southview on Saturday.

Anthony Wayne's victory bumped their record up to 16-2. As for Springfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-19.

Everything came up roses for Anthony Wayne against Springfield when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 71-32 win. Does Anthony Wayne have another victory up their sleeve, or will Springfield turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
