Volleyball Recap: Central Comes Up Short

Central managed to slip by Calexico the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Spartans came up short against the Bulldogs on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-21, 25-15.

Calexico had a senior duo take command as Gerardo Diaz had 42 digs and five aces and Jose Pablo Reyna had 13 digs, two aces, and one block. Diaz has been hot for a while, having posted 17 or more digs the last 12 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jose Contreras, who had eight digs and two aces.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 19-13. As for Calexico, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 19 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season.

Central has already played their next contest (against Imperial), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Calexico, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Southwest EC on the 30th.
