Baseball Game Preview: Beacon Blue Demons vs. Cardozo Judges

The Beacon Blue Demons will face off against the Cardozo Judges at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Beacon's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Cardozo has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Beacon fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Francis Lewis on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 5-4.

Cooper Delabarre was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched.

At the plate, Alex Gordon was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Patience, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one double.

Meanwhile, Cardozo came up short against Francis Lewis on Thursday and fell 4-1.

Beacon's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Cardozo, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.

Beacon took their victory against Cardozo in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 14-3 score. Will the Blue Demons repeat their success, or do the Judges have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
