Preview: Key West Conchs vs. Barron Collier Cougars
Key West has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Barron Collier Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Key West will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 524th, while Barron Collier is ranked 179th).
Key West suffered their biggest loss since November 28, 2023 on Saturday. Their rough 56-36 defeat to Archbishop McCarthy might stick with them for a while.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Barron Collier, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-35 loss to Neumann on Wednesday. Barron Collier has not had much luck with Neumann recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Barron Collier got a solid performance out of Rebecca Van't Hoff, who scored eight points along with six assists and six rebounds. PEYTON HEFFLEFINGER was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Key West bumped their record down to 0-9 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.8 points per game. As for Barron Collier, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.
Key West couldn't quite finish off Barron Collier in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 and fell 2-0. Can Key West avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
