Basketball Game Preview: Covenant Christian Cougars vs. Good Samaritan HomeSchool Hornets

The Covenant Christian Cougars and the Good Samaritan HomeSchool Hornets will round out the year against one another at at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Covenant Christian has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight losses, while Good Samaritan HomeSchool will come in with 15 straight victories.

Last Friday, Covenant Christian might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Rosehill Christian an easy 60-40 win.

Meanwhile, Good Samaritan HomeSchool was able to grind out a solid victory over Harmony Science Academy on Thursday, taking the game 59-47. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Tigers are ranked 1328th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Covenant Christian better keep an eye on Dominic Fogo. He was instrumental in Good Samaritan HomeSchool's win, going 12 for 24 on his way to 33 points in addition to eight steals and seven boards. Fogo has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Mehl, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 10 points and five steals.

Good Samaritan HomeSchool smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 13 consecutive games.

Good Samaritan HomeSchool's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0. As for Covenant Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.
