Soccer Game Preview: Hammond vs. St. Joseph's Catholic

The Hammond Skyhawks will square off against the St. Joseph's Catholic Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Hammond managed to keep up with Cardinal Newman until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Skyhawks came up short against the Cardinals, falling 5-1. Hammond haven't had much luck with Cardinal Newman recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Meanwhile, St. Joseph's Catholic strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Knights who were credited with the win.

St. Joseph's Catholic's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for Hammond, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
