Football Recap: Leake Academy Comes Up Short

Leake Academy came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were beaten by the Jackson Academy Raiders 48-21. The Rebels have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Easton Page and George B Wilcox certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Page picked up 210 receiving yards and three scores, while B Wilcox threw for 250 yards and three TDs. Page really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 72 yards.

Jackson Academy was led to victory by Josef Walker and Kingston Mays. Walker threw for 145 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes, while Mays rushed for 50 yards and three TDs. That's the most rushing touchdowns Mays has posted since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Pruet James, who rushed for 36 yards and one score.

Leake Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Jackson Academy, their record now sits at 2-0.

Coming up, Leake Academy will take on Winona Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rebels will need to watch out since the Stars have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Jackson Academy, they will face off against St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
