Basketball Game Preview: Lakeland Dreadnaughts vs. Discovery Spartans

The Lakeland Dreadnaughts just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Discovery Spartans at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeland knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Discovery likes a good challenge.

Lakeland is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Hawthorne just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 71-63 to the Hornets. While losing is never fun, the Dreadnaughts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 228th, while the Hornets are ranked 90th).

Meanwhile, Discovery unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Gateway Charter by a score of 69-66.

Lakeland's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Discovery, their loss dropped their record down to 14-5.

Everything came up roses for Lakeland against Discovery when the teams last played back in December of 2017, as the squad secured an 86-50 win. In that game, Lakeland amassed a halftime lead of 49-26, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
