Baseball Recap: Century Has No Trouble Against Cobden

Century won against Shawnee last Tuesday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. Everything went the Centurions' way against the Cobden Appleknockers as they made off with a 14-3 win. Considering the Centurions have won three matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Adam Taake made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brandon Plott, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5. He also brought in three RBI, which is notable because Century is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 1-2 otherwise. Bryce Windings was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Century was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in three consecutive games.

Century's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cobden, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.
