Recap: Eunice Cardinals vs. Tularosa Wildcats
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Eunice Cardinals walked away with it. They claimed a resounding 54-0 win over Tularosa at home. Winning may never get old, but Eunice sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Eunice's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elijah Melancon led the charge by throwing for 227 yards and five touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Eljan Woods, who rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries.
Eunice's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 10-2 Texico and 7-4 Jal (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.5% over those games). As for Tularosa, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4.
