Softball Recap: Whitney Young Takes a Loss

Whitney Young dropped down to 15-10 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Amundsen Vikings by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Dolphins couldn't push the score so high this time.

Whitney Young saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mara Finnigan, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Amundsen, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 20-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games.

On Amundsen's side, Allie Reynolds made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts Reynolds has posted since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Whitney Young will square off against Niles North at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Amundsen, they will take on New Trier at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
