While Havelock has struggled at home with four straight losses dating back to last season, that wasn't the case on Friday thanks to Jayden Howard. In a tight game that could have gone either way, the Rams made off with a 29-28 win over the Dixon Bulldogs for which the team can thank Howard, who rushed for 142 yards and three TDs on only eight carries. Havelock is 3-1 when Howard posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 0-4 otherwise.

Defeat or not, Dixon got some senior leadership from JJ Gulat and Sean Delaney. Gulat rushed for 219 yards and three scores, while Delaney rushed for 167 yards while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. Those 167 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Delaney.

Havelock's record is now 3-5. As for Dixon, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Havelock will face off against Swansboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rams will be up against the Pirates' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.43 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Dixon, they will challenge Northside - Jacksonville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 919 yards in their previous games.
