Football Recap: Community Christian Piles Up the Points Against Father Capodanno

Community Christian faced Father Capodanno in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Cyclones took their contest with ease, bagging a 58-12 victory over the Grunts. The win continues a trend for the Cyclones in their matchups with the Grunts: they've now won four in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Community Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jack Beamon, who threw for 362 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 18.1 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 55 yards and one score on only five carries. Those 362 passing yards gave Beamon a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Stephen Edwards, who rushed for 118 yards and three TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Community Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 242 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 150 rushing yards in eight consecutive games.

Community Christian's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Father Capodanno, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
