Baseball Recap: Schuylkill Valley Takes a Loss

Schuylkill Valley had lost four straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 6-11 to make it five. They fell 12-9 to the Tulpehocken Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 on April 8th.

Wisten Ramos made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That run marked the first that he has scored this season. Another player making a difference was Tristan Goda, who went 2-for-4 with three runs.

As for Tulpehocken, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games.

On Tulpehocken's side, Jared Baer made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Baer has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grant Gehman, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Coderre, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.

Looking ahead, Schuylkill Valley will venture away from home to challenge Hamburg at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Tulpehocken, they will take on Antietam at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
