Volleyball Recap: The Colony Takes a Loss

The Colony lost against Wakeland back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cougars came up short against the Wolverines, falling 3-0.

The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-12, 25-14.

Amaya Jones paced The Colony's offense, picking up five kills. Jones got some help from Arielle Ensweiler and her six assists. Finally, Turner Gonzalez kept The Colony's defense grounded, leading the team with six blocks.

Wakeland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jacey Rogers, who had 18 assists and four digs. Rogers is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubree Fernandez, who had 13 digs and five assists.

The Colony has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-23-1 record this season. As for Wakeland, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-6.

The Colony has already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Reedy on the 10th. As for Wakeland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Newman Smith on the 10th.
